NAIDOC Week Welcome to Country Ceremony
NAIDOC Week Celebrations at Dandenong Square
Join us at Dandenong Square as we come together to honour and celebrate NAIDOC Week, a time to recognise and respect the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. For these celebrations, we are lucky to welcome esteemed local elder Uncle Ian Hunter, to Dandenong Square.
Special Welcome to Country Ceremony
Our celebrations include a traditional Welcome to Country Ceremony, acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land and paying respect to Elders past and present.
Basket Weaving Demonstration
Discover the artistry of Aboriginal basket weaving. Watch and learn as a skilled local artist shares the traditional techniques passed down through generations.
Didgeridoo Performance
Experience the stirring sounds of the didgeridoo, performed live by Uncle Ian Hunter. Let the music connect you to the stories and spirit of the land.
We invite you, your family, and friends to join us at Dandenong Square for these meaningful NAIDOC Week events. Be part of this special occasion as we celebrate the world’s oldest living cultures and strengthen our community connections.
All activities are free and open to all.
